HVAC Repair & Heating Service in Sunnyvale, TX
Sunnyvale sits between Mesquite and Forney in eastern Dallas County (ZIP 75182). The U.S. Census Bureau counted 7,893 residents in 2020, and newer neighborhoods keep adding homes along Collins Road, Belt Line, and toward Lake Ray Hubbard. When the first cold front hits, or when a summer AC dies on a 100° afternoon, a lot of those homes are calling an HVAC company for the first time.
Forney HVAC Pros is a free matching service. We are not a contractor and we do not send technicians. We match Sunnyvale homeowners with one vetted, TDLR-licensed local contractor from our network. Matching is always free for homeowners. Contractors pay us a referral fee.

- An active TDLR air conditioning contractor license (check any license with our TDLR license lookup).

No heat in Sunnyvale? Check these 5 things first (2 minutes)
North Texas winters are mostly mild, but the first real cold front — and every hard freeze after it — brings a wave of no-heat calls. Before you pay a service-call fee, try these:
- Thermostat. Set it to Heat, set it a few degrees above room temperature, and replace the batteries if the screen is blank or dim.
- Breaker and furnace switch. Check the panel for a tripped HVAC or furnace breaker. Gas furnaces also have a light-switch-style power switch on or near the unit; make sure it is on.
- Air filter. A clogged filter can make a furnace overheat and shut itself off. If you cannot see light through it, replace it.
- Furnace door. Most furnaces will not run if the front panel is not seated; a safety switch shuts them down.
- Heat pump in defrost. If you have a heat pump and the outdoor unit is steaming with the fan stopped, that is usually a normal defrost cycle. Give it 10–15 minutes.
Still nothing? Use our free HVAC Troubleshooting Tool or read Furnace Not Working? Start Here. If it is still down, get matched.
When it is an emergency (and who to call first)
- You smell gas (rotten eggs), hear hissing, or a CO alarm goes off: leave the house now. From a safe distance, call 911 and Atmos Energy’s 24-hour emergency line, 866-322-8667. Atmos is the natural gas utility for much of this area. Do not flip switches or use the thermostat on your way out. Call an HVAC contractor only after the utility has cleared the home.
- Power is out: that is an Oncor problem, not an HVAC problem. Oncor runs the lines in Sunnyvale no matter which retail electric provider you use.
- No heat with a hard freeze coming, or someone at home is very young, elderly, or medically fragile: request an emergency match. Say so in the matching tool so we route you to a contractor with after-hours options.
Permits in Sunnyvale
If you are replacing a furnace, AC, or heat pump inside Town of Sunnyvale limits, the work needs a building permit. The Town’s Building Permit & Inspection Division reviews plans, issues permits, and inspects under the International Code Council family of codes with regional amendments. Contractors use the Town’s online permit portal. Inspection requests for the next business day must be in by 3:00 p.m.; inspections run on business days between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- A licensed contractor should pull the permit. If a quote says “we skip the permit to save you money,” treat that as a red flag.
- Building permits desk: (972) 203-4188 · Building permits and inspections
- Town Hall: 127 N. Collins Road, Sunnyvale, TX 75182
Ask for the contractor’s TDLR ACR license number (TACLA or TACLB) and check it with our TDLR License Lookup. Not sure what the letters mean? See TACLA vs. TACLB.
What repairs and replacements cost
We do not quote prices; your contractor gives you an exact price after seeing the system. For a realistic range before anyone shows up, use the HVAC Cost Estimator and our guides to AC repair costs and new HVAC system costs. Weighing a big repair against replacement? Read Repair or Replace Your AC? and 5 Red Flags in an HVAC Quote.
Two money notes for 2026 installs:
- Atmos Energy’s Mid-Tex furnace rebate lists $300 for a 90%+ AFUE ENERGY STAR furnace and $350 for 95%+ (program year July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027). Confirm eligibility with Atmos before you buy.
- The federal 25C energy-efficiency tax credit no longer applies to equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025. A 2026 quote that subtracts it is out of date.
How matching works
- Tell us the problem. No heat, no cooling, noise, high bills, or a replacement quote. It takes about a minute.
- We pick the best fit. We match on job type, location, and urgency from our vetted network.
- The contractor contacts you. You get their quote and decide. No obligation, and we do not sell your info to a list.
Sunnyvale HVAC FAQ
Is Forney HVAC Pros an HVAC company?
No. We are a free matching service. We do not send technicians or do repairs. We connect you with a vetted, independent, TDLR-licensed contractor, and that contractor quotes and does the work. Contractors pay us a referral fee.
Do you cover all of Sunnyvale?
We match homeowners in Sunnyvale ZIP 75182 and nearby Forney, Mesquite, Heath, Rockwall, and Kaufman County. If a request is outside a contractor’s area, we tell you rather than force a match.
How much does it cost to use the matching service?
Nothing. Contractors in our network pay a referral fee. You only pay the contractor you choose to hire, based on their own quote.
Do I need a permit to replace my HVAC system in Sunnyvale?
Yes, inside Town of Sunnyvale limits. Your contractor should apply through the Town’s online permit portal and schedule the inspection. Building permits: (972) 203-4188.
How do I know a contractor is licensed?
Ask for their TDLR ACR license number (it starts with TACLA or TACLB) and check it with our TDLR License Lookup or directly on TDLR’s site.
I smell gas near my furnace. What should I do?
Leave the home, then call 911 and Atmos Energy at 866-322-8667 from outside. Have an HVAC contractor inspect the furnace only after the utility clears it.
