How We Rank HVAC Contractors in Forney, TX
Forney HVAC Pros is a free matching service, not an HVAC company. Before we send a homeowner to any contractor, that contractor has to pass the checks on this page. We publish the method so you can judge our recommendations for yourself.
Homeowners never pay us anything. Contractors in our network pay a referral fee when we send them a lead.
Referral fees never determine who we include, how we rank contractors, or which contractor we recommend for your situation. A contractor cannot buy a spot on our list or a better position on it.
Why Star Ratings Alone Do Not Work in Forney
On October 5, 2026 we recorded the Google rating and review count for 34 HVAC companies that show up when Forney, Terrell, Kaufman, and Rockwall homeowners search for HVAC service. We also pulled every A/C contractor license on file with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for Kaufman County.
Sources: Google Maps listing pages, read by hand on October 5, 2026. TDLR license data from the Texas open data portal (data.texas.gov), pulled October 5, 2026. Licenses are counted, not companies; one company can hold more than one license.
Almost every local HVAC company sits between 4.8 and 5.0 stars. A 5.0 on 20 reviews and a 4.9 on 2,000 reviews look nearly the same in a search result, but they tell you very different things. That is why a star rating is only the first filter in our process, not the ranking itself.
Step 1: The Requirements Every Contractor Must Meet
A contractor has to clear all four of these before we will match them with a homeowner. Failing any one is disqualifying.
- An active Texas A/C contractor license (TACLA or TACLB)We look up the license number in the TDLR database and confirm it is active and held by the business you will actually be hiring. Every profile lists the license number so you can check it yourself with our free TDLR license lookup.
- A Google rating of 4.7 stars or higher, across a sustained historyWe want a long record, not a short burst. Every contractor in our current network has at least 70 Google reviews. We read the rating and count straight from Google Maps, never from third-party review aggregators.
- A real local baseThe contractor runs from an office in Forney, Kaufman County, or a neighboring community, not a call center that dispatches whoever is free. Distance matters when your AC is out in August.
- Credibility you can checkYears in business, named owners, and outside signals such as BBB accreditation, Chamber of Commerce recognition, NATE certification, or manufacturer dealer status.
Step 2: How We Match You to the Right Contractor
We do not rank contractors as best to worst overall. Ten good contractors are good at different jobs, so we rank them for your situation. The matching tool weighs these factors against your answers:
- Availability: who advertises 24/7 emergency service, and who works best on scheduled jobs.
- Specialty: full system replacement, new construction, ductless mini-splits, maintenance plans, commercial work.
- Financing: who offers 0% or zero-down financing for a replacement.
- Review depth: the total number of reviews, and how fast new reviews are coming in month to month.
- Location: which contractors are closest to your part of the service area.
- Track record: years in business and outside credentials.
Step 3: Ongoing Verification
- Monthly: we re-read every contractor's Google rating and review count and log the change.
- Quarterly: we re-pull TDLR license records and confirm each license is still active.
- On every profile: a "Last Verified" date shows exactly when we last checked.
- Removal: a contractor who loses an active license, drops below 4.7 stars, or draws a pattern of complaints we cannot resolve is removed from matching.

What We Will Not Do
- Sell placement, badges, or a higher position on any list.
- Use review counts from aggregator sites. Every number comes from Google Maps or the state license database.
- Recommend a contractor whose license we cannot find in TDLR records.
- Treat a company as bad because it is not on our list. Some well-reviewed local companies are not in our network yet. Being left off is not a negative judgment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do contractors pay to be ranked by Forney HVAC Pros?
No. Contractors in our network pay a referral fee when we send them a lead, but fees never determine who we include or how we rank them. A contractor cannot buy a spot on our list or a better position on it.
How do you verify an HVAC contractor's license?
We look up each contractor's license number in the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation database and confirm it is an active A/C contractor license (TACLA or TACLB) held by that business. We re-check every quarter. You can check any license yourself with our free TDLR lookup tool.
How many licensed HVAC contractors are there in Kaufman County?
As of October 5, 2026, TDLR records show 172 active A/C contractor licenses with a Kaufman County business address, plus 546 registered A/C technicians. Some companies hold more than one license, and many contractors based in Dallas and Rockwall counties also serve Forney.
Why not just pick the HVAC company with the best Google rating?
Because almost everyone in the Forney market is rated between 4.8 and 5.0 stars. In our October 2026 count, 32 of 34 local HVAC companies were at 4.7 stars or higher. Review volume, licensing, availability, and specialty separate them far better than the star rating does.
How often is the contractor information updated?
We re-read Google ratings and review counts monthly and re-check TDLR licenses quarterly. Every contractor profile shows a Last Verified date.
